Choir Section Leader Opportunities: St. Clements Episcopal Church, St. Paul

Section Leader Auditions
St. Clement’s Episcopal Church in St. Paul, MN

The historic St. Clement’s Episcopal Church in St. Paul seeks four paid Section Leaders (S/A/T/B) to serve as confident, ensemble-minded section leaders for our accomplished parish choir. Section leaders are strong musicians and secure readers who can support their section with clarity, energy, and musical leadership while blending seamlessly into the ensemble. Ideal candidates bring vocal strength, stylistic flexibility, technical mastery, and a passion for sacred choral music spanning Renaissance masterworks to newly commissioned works. Section leaders serve September–May, rehearse Wednesdays, sing one Sunday service weekly, plus four Evensongs and major seasonal liturgies. Compensation: $73 per call.

Who we are: We are a choir of joyful “choir geeks” committed to singing top-drawer repertoire each week in worship. The four section leaders support about 35 volunteer singers. We sing literature from every era and commission new compositions annually. While our focus is naturally on the weekly worship of our community, we have made pilgrimages to sing at historic cathedrals in the UK, in each case being invited back. Recent residencies include St. Albans Cathedral, Durham Cathedral, Westminster Abbey (UK), Christ Church Cathedral (Dublin), with an upcoming residency planned for Ely Cathedral in Cambridgeshire, England in 2028. We work hard, laugh often, and cultivate a close-knit, spirited community rooted in musical excellence and shared joy.

To hear recordings, learn more, or schedule an audition, email Dr. Mark Stahura, Director of Music at mark@stcstp.org. Please apply by May 18th, 2026.
